Description
A warm, hearty dish that combines the essence of classic hamburgers into a single, easy-to-serve pie.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your preferred type)
- 1 pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
- ½ cup chopped onion
- ¼ cup ketchup
- ¼ cup mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Once browned, drain off the excess fat.
- Stir in the chopped onion, cooking until softened about 3-4 minutes.
- Add ketchup, mustard, a sprinkle of salt, and pepper. Let the mixture simmer for about 2-3 minutes.
- Transfer the beef mixture into a greased pie dish. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
- Cover with the pie crust, sealing the edges tightly.
- Cut several slits in the crust to allow steam to escape while baking.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the crust turns a golden brown.
- Allow the pie to cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve with optional toppings.
Notes
Feel free to customize with toppings like pickles, lettuce, and tomatoes. You can also substitute ground beef with turkey or veggies for different dietary needs.
