  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 slices bacon
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Position a rack in the middle.
  2. Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat for 5–7 minutes until crispy. Transfer to paper towels to drain.
  3. Rub chicken breasts with olive oil (or reserved bacon fat) and season with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  4. Heat a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Sear chicken for 4–5 minutes per side until golden brown.
  5. Pour barbecue sauce over the chicken, sprinkle with shredded cheddar and crumbled bacon.
  6. Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake for 10–12 minutes until chicken is cooked through and cheese is melted.
  7. Remove from the oven, sprinkle with green onions and red pepper flakes if using, and let rest for 3–5 minutes before serving.
