- 1 pound chicken breast, sliced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cups mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Egg noodles or rice for serving
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the sliced chicken and cook until browned, about 5 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until soft, around 3 minutes.
- Toss in the sliced mushrooms and cook until they release their juices, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the flour, cook for 1 minute to create a roux.
- Gradually pour in the chicken broth, stirring continuously until it thickens, about 3 minutes.
- Lower the heat and mix in the sour cream until well combined.
- Return the chicken to the skillet, stirring to coat with the sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve over cooked egg noodles or rice.
Notes
For lighter options, substitute Greek yogurt for sour cream. Feel free to experiment with spices like paprika for added flavor.
