Description
A quick and flavorful beef and broccoli stir fry that’s ready in under 30 minutes, perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound beef sirloin, thinly sliced
- 2 cups broccoli florets, trimmed into bite-sized pieces
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooked rice or cauliflower rice, for serving
Instructions
- Combine beef, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, and cornstarch (if using) in a bowl. Toss and let sit for 15 minutes.
- Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add sesame oil and swirl to coat.
- Add the marinated beef in a single layer. Stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until browned but not overcooked. Transfer beef to a plate.
- In the same skillet, add broccoli and a splash (about 2 tablespoons) of water or broth. Cover briefly or stir for 2–3 minutes until broccoli is tender-crisp.
- Return the beef to the pan and toss to combine. Cook 1 more minute to heat through and let the sauce thicken. Taste and season with salt and pepper.
- Serve immediately over hot rice or cauliflower rice.
Notes
Use flank steak or skirt steak if sirloin isn’t available. For a leaner option, consider chicken breast or thigh. Cornstarch gives a glossy, clingy sauce; omit it for a lighter finish.
