Description
A layered, bake-and-forget casserole that combines crispy tater tots, pizza sauce, gooey cheese, and pepperoni for a nostalgic pizza experience in every bite.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 bag of tater tots (about 32 oz)
- 1 cup pepperoni slices
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup pizza sauce
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional toppings: sliced olives, bell peppers, onions
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease a 9×13-inch casserole dish.
- Spread half of the tater tots in an even layer across the bottom of the dish. Press gently so they sit snugly together.
- Spoon half of the pizza sauce over the tots and spread lightly to cover. Sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella on top. Arrange half the pepperoni slices over the cheese.
- Repeat: add the remaining tater tots, then the remaining pizza sauce, mozzarella, and pepperoni. Sprinkle the Italian seasoning, and season lightly with salt and pepper. Add optional toppings now if using.
- Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden and the cheese is bubbling and starting to brown. If you want extra crispness, switch to broil for 1–2 minutes — watch closely so it doesn’t burn.
- Remove from the oven and let the casserole rest 5 minutes before cutting and serving.
Notes
Serve hot with a simple green salad. Leftovers can be reheated and pair well with steamed vegetables.
