Description
A comforting and flavorful one-pot pasta dish infused with Cajun spices and creamy goodness.
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 oz pasta (penne or rotini)
- 1 lb spicy sausage (Italian or Andouille)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 onion, diced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 bell pepper, diced
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the diced onion and bell pepper, sautéing until they soften and become fragrant.
- Stir in the minced garlic, cooking for an additional minute until aromatic.
- Add the sausage to the pot, breaking it up with a spoon, and brown for about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the diced tomatoes, chicken broth, and Cajun seasoning, increasing heat to bring to a gentle boil.
- Add the pasta, reduce the heat, cover, and let it simmer until al dente, around 10-12 minutes.
- Pour in heavy cream, seasoning with salt and pepper to taste. Stir and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.
Notes
For a healthier twist, substitute half the heavy cream with low-fat milk or a dairy-free alternative. Adjust spice levels according to preference.
