Description

A comforting pasta dish featuring savory Italian sausage, sun-dried tomatoes, and a creamy sauce, perfect for weeknight dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb pasta (your choice)
  • 1 lb Italian sausage (mild or spicy)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup sun-dried tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 tsp salt (to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper (to taste)
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Brown the Sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and crumble in the Italian sausage. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently until browned. Remove the sausage from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Sauté Garlic and Tomatoes: In the same skillet, add minced garlic and chopped sun-dried tomatoes. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until the garlic is fragrant, being careful not to let it burn.
  4. Prepare the Sauce: Deglaze the skillet with a splash of chicken broth, scraping up any flavorful bits. Add the remaining chicken broth along with the heavy cream. Stir in the grated parmesan cheese and let it simmer for around 5 minutes to thicken.
  5. Combine: Return the cooked sausage to the skillet, along with the drained pasta. Toss everything together until well coated with the creamy sauce. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if desired.
  6. Serve and Garnish: Dish out your pasta hot, garnished with fresh basil and additional parmesan if you like. Enjoy your delicious creation!

Notes

For lighter options, swap heavy cream with whole milk or half-and-half. For vegetarian versions, replace sausage with mushrooms or a plant-based sausage.
