Ingredients

  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup canned crushed tomatoes
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, yeast, and salt.
  2. Add warm water and olive oil; mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  4. Cover and let rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C).
  6. Roll out the risen dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
  7. Place the rolled dough on a pizza stone or baking sheet.
  8. Spread crushed tomatoes evenly on the dough, season with salt and pepper.
  9. Arrange mozzarella slices on top and add fresh basil leaves.
  10. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and cheese is bubbly.
  11. Remove from the oven, let cool briefly, then slice and serve.

Notes

For a crispier crust, pre-bake the dough for 5 minutes before adding toppings.
