- 4 cups cooked chicken, shredded
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 cups cooked pasta (penne or rotini preferred)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with olive oil.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat and add shredded chicken, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir for about 5 minutes until heated through.
- In a large bowl, combine cooked pasta and marinara sauce, then stir in half of the Parmesan and half of the mozzarella.
- Add the seasoned chicken to the pasta mixture and mix well.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
- Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan over the top.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and browning.
- Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes, garnish with chopped fresh basil or parsley, and serve warm.
Notes
Use pre-cooked rotisserie chicken for quicker preparation. For lower sodium, opt for low-salt marinara. For gluten-free, replace with certified gluten-free pasta.
