- 1 ½ cups sharp cheddar, shredded and separated
- ½ teaspoon powdered garlic
- ½ teaspoon granulated onion
- 2 tablespoons chopped scallions (optional for garnish)
- ½ cup dairy milk (whole or 2%)
- ¼ teaspoon fine salt
- 3 cups pre-cooked chicken, pulled or shredded
- ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- ½ cup crisp bacon, crumbled
- 2 cups dry egg noodles
- 1 cup thick sour cream
- 1 can (10.5 oz / 300 g) condensed cream of chicken soup
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- Cook the noodles in a pot of boiling salted water until al dente, then drain.
- Whisk together the cream of chicken soup, sour cream, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a large mixing bowl.
- Add the drained noodles, shredded chicken, half of the cheddar, and half of the bacon to the bowl and stir until evenly coated.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly. Sprinkle the remaining cheddar and bacon on top.
- Bake covered with foil for 20 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 to 15 minutes, until bubbling and cheese is melted.
- Let the casserole rest for about 5 minutes before serving and garnish with chopped scallions if desired.
Notes
For a quicker preparation, use rotisserie chicken and pre-cooked bacon.
