Description
Bite-sized apple fritter bites that are sweet, cinnamon-spiced, and perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup diced apples (preferably tart varieties like Granny Smith)
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and cinnamon until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Don’t overmix! Fold in the diced apples.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium heat until it reaches about 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil, frying until golden brown on each side, about 3-4 minutes. Make sure not to crowd the pan.
- Remove the fritters with a slotted spoon and let them drain on paper towels.
- Just before serving, dust each one generously with powdered sugar for that classic finish.
Notes
For extra flavor, consider adding nutmeg or using whole wheat flour. Drizzle with caramel or serve with vanilla ice cream for added indulgence.
